Shattered Glass

    Do you like textures? Something more than just a flat painting? Shattered glass is for those of us that enjoy running our hands across paintings and feeling different grooves, bumps, ridges, and lines. I started this piece by painting over another painting I had. I like doing this because it helps build up the layers. After rolling on a blue background, I started adding color in different ways. I'm not a fan of just brushing paint on. I added red and blues with a concrete trowel, then I would scrape the painting creating interesting lines and marks. I smeared paint together using a recycled plastic sheet, then added strokes of yellow and greens with different palat and putty knifes. I even poured paint in my hand and threw it at the canvas! I still wasn't satisfied so I drew on the canvas with paint straight out of the tube. Squeezing on thick globs. Adding yet another layer of texture. When I stare at this painting it reminds me of shattered glass in the street or recycle bin. Several different bottles worth of colors glistening in the sunlight. This makes a great painting for anyone's living room, or even a kitchen, where you want some color to dress up a wall, and a little texture just for the fun of it.

     All my paintings are signed on the back, so you can hang them in any orientation you like. They also come with a varnish topcoat to protect them from harmful UV rays and pollutants.
